Maxxis Reaver Gen.2 Folding Tire 700x45C 45-622 EXO
The Reaver is faster, lighter, and even more durable than the popular Rambler. While the Rambler is more versatile in mixed conditions or deeper gravel, the new Reaver is the better choice when speed is paramount. The Reaver's low-profile tread design uses mini-diamond lugs to minimize rolling resistance and increase traction on dusty or loose surfaces. Paddle-shaped cross lugs provide additional grip during hard braking. Closely spaced shoulder lugs ensure consistent lateral grip. Slots in the lugs allow for flexible adaptation to the terrain, further enhancing traction.
Generation 2 introduces the new HYPR-X rubber compound, which combines the best of HYPR road bike rubber and MaxxSpeed MTB rubber. The Reaver now rolls 25% lighter and offers 19% more cornering traction compared to the DUAL compound. New materials in the 120 tpi casing keep the weight constant while increasing puncture protection under the tread. The new hotpatch design gives the tire a modern and sleek look.
HYPR-X Compound
HYPR-X is the result of years of development and combines the best properties of the HYPR compound from road bikes and the MaxxSpeed compound from the MTB sector. The result: 25% less rolling resistance and 19% more cornering traction compared to the previous DUAL Compound.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
Tubeless tires offer many advantages: You can ride with lower air pressure, resulting in better traction and reduced rolling resistance. And without an inner tube, the risk of punctures is also reduced. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for use with sealant than other tubeless-ready tires. Like a true UST tubeless tire, the bead of the TR tire is completely coated with a layer of rubber. This ensures successful tubeless mounting on all standard-sized rims, even on the first inflation and with minimal sealant. Regular MAXXIS MTB tires, like those from other manufacturers, can also be mounted tubeless with sealant, as their casing fabrics are very dense. However, only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved and guaranteed by MAXXIS for tubeless mounting. Tubeless mounting of other models is at your own risk.
Note: We strongly advise against the use of sealant containing ammonia. Ammonia has been proven to attack the tire casing and, depending on the amount used, can weaken it by up to 30% within just a few months.
