With this Evo version of the award-winning comfort original, Ergon sets a new standard for ergonomic, pain-free cycling on touring and fitness bikes.
For the first time, design, development, and manufacturing are "Made in Germany." This enables even more targeted and sustainable implementation of the company's commitment to delivering the highest quality down to the smallest detail.
Features
- No pain, no numbness - hand discomfort while cycling is widespread, especially on longer rides. Conventional, rounded, or seemingly ergonomic grips often cause numbness in the fingers, as well as pain and irritation in the palms of the hands and wrists. Discomfort in the forearms and upper arms, as well as in the neck and shoulders, can also often be attributed to unsuitable grips. Chronic misalignment can lead to pain such as carpal tunnel syndrome. With the iconic GP1, Ergon has enabled millions of cyclists to enjoy pain-free cycling for more than 20 years.
- Distributes pressure, protects nerves - While cycling, a significant portion of your body weight rests on your hands holding the handlebars. This results in intense pressure on a small area of the grip. This often compresses the extremely sensitive ulnar nerve, which runs close to the skin's surface in the area of the little finger, causing unpleasant numbness. The wing-shaped grip of the GP1 Evo, which perfectly adapts to the hand, effectively distributes the intense pressure over a larger area, thus preventing discomfort.
- Straight wrist prevents discomfort - When the wrist bends while cycling, nerves, tendons, and blood vessels are compressed. This can lead to a narrowing of the carpal tunnel and potential damage to the median nerve. The ergonomic wing design of the GP1 Evo supports the wrist in a gentle, straight position. This can effectively prevent problems such as painful wrists, numbness in the fingers, tingling, and carpal tunnel syndrome.
- Two sizes for optimal pressure distribution - To effectively distribute pressure on the handlebar and prevent discomfort, it's important that your hand doesn't completely wrap around the grip. For this reason, Ergon offers the GP1 Evo in "Small" and "Large" sizes. The main difference is the grip width. This means that a thicker grip offers a better fit for a larger hand, while a thinner grip is more beneficial for a smaller hand – also for safety, as the optimal form fit also ensures the best control over the bike.
