To celebrate 38 years of innovation, the guys from Chicago have come up with something truly special. The limited-edition 1987 collection combines selected highlights of the Transmission Ecosystem—things SRAM is particularly proud of—in an exclusive silver finish. To ensure this drivetrain remains as exclusive as its history, the collection is limited to 1,987 units worldwide.

At the heart of your new drivetrain is a crankset inspired by the X0 series.
Crafted from high-quality aluminum, this crankset impresses with its robust design and modern look. With a length of 170 mm, it offers the ideal balance of efficiency and control, fitting perfectly with the geometries of modern mountain bikes. And so that you can always get the best out of yourself, the whole set comes with a power meter included. Thanks to the two included chainrings, you don't have to compromise on gear ratios either.

Power is transferred toward the cassette via an equally exclusive chain. Hollow pins, a hard chrome coating, and cut-out plates save weight, while both the "1987" branding and the serial number identify this chain as a true rarity.

Arriving at the rear wheel, your chain is greeted by a completely silver cassette. Technically, it is based on the already lightweight XX SL cassette—but as we know, good things can always be improved. For this special occasion, it has shed about 25 grams without sacrificing durability or shifting performance.

Last but not least, the chain needs to be moved back and forth across the cassette. This is where a rear derailleur that matches the rest comes into play. The aluminum inline cage is combined here with the lightest AXS full-mount main body in silver.

To perfectly round off the color concept, the package also includes two Pod Ultimate controllers complete with color-coordinated silver Infinity clamps.

Strictly limited to just 1,987 groupsets worldwide: each component of the 1987 Edition is unique and bears an individual serial number from 0001 to 1987 laser-etched onto every part. A perfect "must-have" for collectors and fans of the SRAM brand.

Eagle Transmission is a mountain bike drivetrain system that sets new standards in function and reliability.
All components were built around the constant point of every bicycle: the center of the wheel. Unnecessary parts were eliminated to execute elementary functions to perfection.
The T-Type system is precisely tuned for perfect operation and is not compatible with existing, older Eagle drivetrains. The groupset is not approved for use on e-bikes!

Crank (693g)
An X0-inspired aluminum crank in silver. The mounted power meter measures with an accuracy of +/- 1.5%. Technically, the manufacturing of the crank is also special: the left crank arm and the spindle are not joined from two separate parts as usual, but are manufactured in one piece.

Rear Derailleur (457g incl. battery)
The 1987 rear derailleur consists of the lightest full-mount main body paired with a silver aluminum inline cage. Crisp gear changes meet reliable function and an extravagant design—perfect for anyone who values performance and aesthetics.

Cassette (316g)
Technically, it is based on the already very lightweight XX SL cassette. For this special occasion, it has been lightened by about 25 grams without compromising on durability or shifting performance.

Chain (266g)
The Flattop chain was developed specifically for the new Eagle Transmission drivetrains and features a unique, flat top. This shape not only maximizes shifting performance and stability, but is also a visual highlight on any bike. Hollow pins and cut-out plates save weight, and the hard chrome coating prevents corrosion.

2x Pod Controller (95g)
The AXS Pod Ultimate features a two-button "click and fire" design, turning every rider input into a much more personal experience for all your AXS components.

Battery (25g)
Two batteries are included to operate your rear derailleur, ensuring you always have sufficient power even on long tours.

Charger
With the 4-port charger, it is possible to charge up to four AXS batteries in just one hour. This short charging time requires a powerful USB-C power adapter (not included).

Disassembly Tool
A special tool for removing chainrings from SRAM power meters equipped with a Threadmount interface. The tool is mandatory to properly remove the chainrings without damaging the measuring system or the chainring.

NOTE: A frame with a UDH interface is mandatory for mounting the rear derailleur! The rear derailleur is NOT compatible with existing Eagle drivetrains!
