Aerodynamics and low weight alone don't win races – at the finish line, it's all about speed. Reaching race speed requires a very specific balance of aerodynamics, lightness, stiffness, and compliance. Our Ride Science Team, through race simulations using real-world data, has determined that the Tarmac SL8 is the fastest road bike ever built on the most crucial courses. A full 16.6 seconds faster over 40 km, 128 seconds faster at Milan–San Remo, and 20 seconds faster up the Tourmalet.

The Tarmac SL8 Comp is now equipped with the new SRAM Rival AXS groupset. This makes it even lighter and enables effortless braking as well as faster and more precise shifting.

AERO-AVANTGARDE: For us, aero is about the surfaces that truly matter, not the ones that look best. With this philosophy, we've created our most aerodynamic road bike ever. And yes, it's more aerodynamic than the Venge. The Tarmac SL8's redesigned head tube maintains airflow more efficiently, thanks to its more pointed front surface. We call it the Speed ​​Sniffer, and with it, the head tube's more streamlined cross-section generates significantly less drag. Furthermore, in compliance with the new UCI regulations, we've developed the slimmest and most aerodynamic Specialized seatpost ever for the Tarmac SL8. MINIMAL WEIGHT, MAXIMUM AERO: S-Works. The Tarmac SL8 leverages the knowledge gained from developing the Aethos and easily meets the UCI weight limit, all with a full aero setup. Our team has created an incredible frame weighing just 685 grams – 15% lighter than the Tarmac SL7 and lighter than any other bike on the World Tour. The fact that Kasper Asgreen rode our Aethos, whose frame weighs a mere 585 grams, on a Tour stage doesn't quite count. The new technical possibilities allowed us to optimize the weight of the Tarmac's downtube, seat tube, and rear triangle, as the frame's new shape distributes the load so efficiently that additional carbon layers for increased stiffness are no longer necessary.

LIGHTNING-FAST ACCELERATION WITH MORE COMFORT: Thanks to a massive improvement in the stiffness-to-weight ratio—an astonishing 33% increase over the SL7—the Tarmac SL8 takes legendary handling, aggressive responsiveness, and World Tour-proven geometry to a new level. Stiffer at the bottom bracket, more precise at the handlebars, and more compliant in the saddle, it sets a new standard for race bike performance and comfort. Our Rider-First Engineering™ concept ensures that every rider, regardless of size, enjoys the same ride quality and handling. The Tarmac SL8 offers 6% more compliance in the saddle, gliding smoothly over rough roads—unique in the high-pressure world of road cycling. And when conditions demand it, 32mm tire clearance allows for higher-volume tires.

GENDER NEUTRAL: Our product development experience tells us that there can be more differences between two riders of the same gender than between two riders of different genders. Gender alone does not provide a basis for gender-specific geometries. Frames specifically for men or women are therefore unfounded and outdated.
