Maxxis Assegai EXO+

The Assegai is the ultimate downhill tire, co-developed by former downhill world champion Greg Minnaar.

• He incorporated all his years of racing experience into the design. The basic idea was to get the best performance from existing Maxxis tread patterns. The high-rolling lugs from the Minion DHF and Minion DHR II were implemented in the center of the tread. This provides excellent rolling resistance on hard surfaces, as well as grip on wet roots and rocks. Slightly modified side lugs from the High Roller take care of fast cornering. These give you a clearly defined limit and plenty of reserves at all times. Finally, the Shorty adds its tread depth and ensures sufficient traction even on deep forest floors. With this intelligent mix, you can really let loose.

Wide Trail Casing (WT)

This special carcass construction optimizes the tread pattern and tire shape for today's wider rims. Traditional tires are designed for narrow rims and become too angular on wider rims, resulting in less than optimal performance.

WT tires are optimized for an inner rim width of 35 mm, but work excellently on all rims with an inner width between 30 and 40 mm.

Tubeless Ready (TR)

Tubeless tires offer many advantages: You can ride with lower air pressure, resulting in better traction and reduced rolling resistance. And without an inner tube, the risk of punctures is also reduced. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for mounting with sealant than other "tubeless ready" tires. The bead of our TR tires, like a true UST tubeless tire, is completely coated with a layer of rubber. This ensures successful tubeless mounting on all standard-sized rims, even on the first inflation and with minimal sealant. "Regular" MAXXIS MTB tires, like those from other manufacturers, can also be mounted tubeless with sealant, as their casing fabrics are very dense. However, only the new MAXXIS TR models are officially approved and guaranteed by MAXXIS for tubeless mounting. Tubeless mounting of other models is at your own risk.

Note: We strongly advise against the use of sealant containing ammonia. Ammonia has been proven to attack the tire casing and, depending on the amount used, can weaken it by up to 30% within just a few months.

EXO+ Protection

The improved EXO+ casing is based on a robust 60 TPI casing covered with abrasion-resistant rubber. Additionally, the tire sidewalls feature a reinforced, rubberized EXO puncture protection layer, while a short butyl insert is used above the tire bead. Tires with EXO+ protection are designed for aggressive trail riding and enduro racing, and are also ideally suited to the higher torque and weight encountered by e-MTBs.

3C MaxxGrip

The renowned 3C downhill compound, trusted by many of the best downhillers for years, is now called 3C MaxxGrip. Thanks to three different rubber compounds, 3C MaxxGrip offers ultimate grip and superior damping properties for unparalleled downhill traction. The base layer ensures low rolling resistance and stability of the tread blocks. The compound in the center of the tread provides optimal grip on any surface, while the highly damped compound on the shoulder blocks delivers maximum cornering grip.
