In a standard one-hour test, Trek states that the Ballista saves 10.1 watts compared with the Velocis. In a final sprint, that adds up to more than a bike length. If the helmet is damaged in a crash within the first year, Trek replaces it free of charge under the Crash Replacement Guarantee.
