Eine große Neuerung im Vergleich zu den bisherigen Di2-Varianten ist der Wegfall der zentralen Stromversorgung. Somit ist ein umständliches Verkabeln mehr nötig, was die Montage deutlich vereinfacht.
Der kleine 305 mAh starke Akku wird direkt ins Schaltwerk gesteckt. Dort sitzt er unsichtbar, verlustsicher und versorgt dieses unauffällig mit der notwendigen Energie. Trotz des wasserdichten Faches ist die Entnahme zum Laden schnell und unkompliziert möglich.
